Seven Months Old!

(These days, Delaney tries to grab the sign and eat the mustache.  We had to shoot these photos quickly!)

Dear Delaney,
Seven months is my new favorite.  What a fun month!  You are so engaging and we are having so much fun interacting with you.  We have several new routines with you- we say "kick, kick" and you smile and kick your legs.  Or now when you hear us say "hi," you've started waving your arm around.  You love to play peek-a-boo and you take the blanket off of your face by yourself.  I can tell you you are starting to make connections about the words you hear- it's so incredible to watch you learn.

Solid food has been a new thing this month.  We love the faces you make when you try new food.  By the way, you'd love to do it all yourself.  I always have two spoons: one for you and one for me to stealthily sneak a bite in when you open your mouth for your spoon.  It's a hoot!

You are traveling more, and we know that crawling is right around the corner.  You roll to get where you want to go and you are so proud of yourself when you scooch off of a blanket.  You're starting to reach your arms out for us to hold you now too (who can resist that?).

And speaking of traveling.  You traveled to Kansas for the first time and were so good in the car (20 hours in a car with just a little fussing).  We try not to make a big deal about it to other parents.

Your favorite thing these days is paper.  You love to rip up catalogs and loved the exam room paper Papa D brought home for you.  It makes the best noise, huh?  Perhaps you're going to grow up to be an editor at Vogue?  Or work for Dunder Mifflin?

My favorite thing this month is that you sleep through the night (most of the time) and so we are now finally getting some sleep!  I feel like a brand new person.

We can't go anywhere without someone stopping to tell us "what a smiley baby," or "she is so happy!"  (Or "My, what a happy little boy.")  It's true though, you are such a good baby and so happy!

I may have said this before but I often wonder how many times I fall in love with you each day.  At least 4 times just today.

Love,
Mommy
